Proceedings Symposium Moreska: past and present, 2001 Korcula

These Proceedings are a tangible record of the 2001 Moreška symposium. The format follows the prior year's Proceedings of the ICTM (International Council for Traditional Music) Study Group on Ethnochoreology. This international symposium of ethnochoreologists also met in Korčula (July 2000) and who spoke on themes about sword dances and related calendrical dance events, as well as revivals and reconstruction of dance events (such as Korcula's kumpanija).

The sequnce of the symposium papers in the Moreska Proceedings are based on sword dance subjects historically (Sparti and Forrest) and then geographically (Marti, Baumann and Bonanzinga). The remaining papers focus more specifically upon the Korcula Moreska (Sparti, Oreb, Marosevic and Dunin). The Croatian papers are translated into Englsih, while the remaining papers are maintained in their own languages (Franch,
Spanish or Italian). All the abstracts are translated into Croatian.
