MISSION

The Institute is a unique center of ethnological, cultural anthropological, folkloristic, ethnomusicological, ethnochoreological and related scientific research, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary critical research into culture in the full range of traditional, popular, everyday and other aspects and articulations.

We are focused on empirical and theoretical insights into the publication of scientific books and articles according to high professional quality criteria as prerequisites for the transfer and application of knowledge in culture, education, civil society, economy and other spheres.

These activities are carried out as part of the Institute’s core activities and scientific research projects and programs with the support of a specialized library and documentation.

VISION

The Institute is an internationally recognized center for ethnological and folkloristic research into cultural phenomena and processes in a social, historical, and political context. It has an internationally networked rich documentation and library fund.

The Institute is a stimulating and desirable place for scientific work and the advancement of scientists and associates who combine their scientific research work and activities in the public sphere in a quality, innovative, and responsible manner.

The Institute successfully relies on domestic and international sources of funding and maintains the status of an autonomous public scientific institute with continuous activities for the public interest.

The Institute contributes its specialized knowledge to higher education and other educational programs and develops cooperation with related institutions.
