Italian jazz in RO&DO bar: Old record listening session (2022/7/19)

On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, we organized the seventh Old record listening session. This time, its concept was appropriated for the new surroundings provided by the RO&DO bar (Britanac square, Ilica 73) in Zagreb, which hosted the collector Mikula Marušić Pederin and the project assistant Dora Dunatov. They selected a number of Elektroton’s records from the legacy of lawyer Željko Martić with Italian jazz music and played it not only on a modern but also on an old mechanical gramophone. The program included various dances, mostly performed by the dance orchestras Kramer and Semprini, protagonists of Italian jazz in the 1930s and 1940s. Surrounded by an excellent audience on the terrace of RO&DO bar, part of which showed up after hearing about the event on Radio Sljeme, the listening session lasted for more than two hours.
