The project is a continuation of long-term scientific research that is the fundamental activity of the Reference Center for Intangible Culture at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore. Utilizing the latest technological advancements and the development of digital humanities, one of the project’s goals is to create a network of collaborators and users, as well as to set up a unique database of bearers of Croatian intangible culture in the country and abroad, including the intangible culture of national minorities in Croatia.
The project will be carried out in several stages, during which a strong collaborative network will be established to connect bearers, researchers, experts, artists and all those interested in traditional culture through digital media. A digital platform for processing, displaying, and making data on intangible culture publicly available will bring together archival material and living traditions. By participating in an international project that connects archives around the world, the project results will be visible to a wider (scientific) audience. Another goal of the project is to carry out comprehensive and systematic field research, interviews and documentation, as well as research in the digital environment. The results, along with diachronic and synchronic analysis and critical reflection on individual phenomena of (traditional) intangible culture, will be disseminated within the scientific community.
The third goal is direct collaboration with local partners through education on intangible culture and its potential for revitalization. This will also include workshops on the use of archives, databases, digital technology and thesauri, as well as on the ways of collecting, processing and storing field data.
