Sales catalogues Edison Bell Penkala

Some sales catalogues of Edison Bell Penkala are available in the National Library of Serbia – Main Catalogue of Domestic and Foreign Records from November 1927 (80+4 pages) and II. continuation of the main catalogue from 1931 (106 pages) – and the National and University Library in Zagreb – II. continuation of the main catalogue from June 1929 (64+4 p.).

The collection of Paul Voigt stored in the Music Archive of the National Library of Canada (sign. MUS 142) preserves the version of the Main Catalogue of Domestic and Foreign Records from November 1927 (83+4 pages), which differs slightly from the version in the National Library of Serbia. The catalogue intended for the Hungarian market – Edison Bell Penkala Magyar Hanglemezek – is available in the Hungarian National Library (Országos Széchényi Könyvtár).

The most prominent researcher and proponent of Croatian music record heritage, dipl. ing. Veljko Lipovšćak, owns an additional five catalogues of Edison Bell Penkala which are missing some pages.

In the first (I. Continuation of the Main Catalogue, pag., 95 p.) The mark of the year is missing; it is probably the end of 1927 or the beginning of 1928.

The second is from April 1928 (partly visible page, 30 pages, but missing cover page and pages 2-5).

On the third can be read that it’s printed in February-March, and 1930 is written by hand (page 16, missing cover page and pages 1-2).

The fourth is from 1935 (Continuation of the Main Catalogue, pag., 24 p.).

The fifth is from March 1936 (Our Latest Records, 2 p.).

Elektroton sales catalogues

So far, only one catalogue is known: Elektroton: The Latest List of Gramophone Records (Elektroton – Odeon – Polydor – Cetra; Music for Everyone!). It is owned by Mr. Lipovšćak and we are grateful for his permission to make the catalogue available to the public. The catalogue is available HERE.

Jugoton sales catalogues

The Jugoton catalogue: Catalogue of Gramophone Records 1957–1958: 78 rpm (255 pages) is of central importance for the period under consideration. It is stored in the archives of Croatia Records. Mr Veljko Lipovšćak also owns the printed booklet Jugoton 1951: List of Gramophone Records (20+8 pages). Similar catalogues were published in the period under consideration, but are not preserved.
