Potaknuti nedavnim masovnim migracijama i popratnim politikama i procesima konferencijom Kamp, kolodvor, granica: mikrostudije izbjeglištva u suvremenom hrvatskom kontekstu (Zagreb, 14–15. lipnja 2016) želimo otvoriti prostor za prezentaciju i razmjenu disciplinarno i tematski raznorodnih empirijskih istraživanja izbjeglištva u lokalnom kontekstu, a u rasponu od istraživanja politika i praksi humanitarizacije, sekuritizacije, kriminalizacije, kao i otpora tim praksama i politikama do analiza medijskih diskursa i stavova građana. U okviru prvog dana konferencije, koji će se održati u Institutu za etnologiju i folkloristiku, predstavit će se dvanaest iniciranih ili završenih mikrostudija izbjeglištva te jedan umjetnički projekt, dok će drugi dan u Centru za istraživanje etničnosti, državljanstva i migracija (Fakultet političkih znanosti Sveučilišta u Zagrebu) biti održan panel sa četiri izlaganja na temu komparativnih politika integracije.

After analyzing feminist practices of inheriting and archiving the past, the 2016 Dubrovnik course devotes its attention to feminist engagements with the future, which the first decade of the new century has already exposed to an extraordinary vastness of acts of expropriation: recent natural and political catastrophes – epochal displacements, widespread migrations and wars, social engineering, assault on community values, security and freedom, the dramatic curtailment of civil liberties, increase of global military capabilities, the license for the preservation of massive privilege and inequality, unemployment, precarity, austerity measures, financial cuts in education, failure of the welfare state, increased violence against women, children, minorities, the other.…

During the 2014 jubilee year SIEF not only celebrates, but also spreads its wings. On 12 September the members present in Amsterdam participated in a successful golden jubilee and reflected on SIEF’s past and future. Two months later SIEF celebrated again its birthday at the meeting of the American Folklore Society in Santa Fe. Colleagues from our American counterpart organization were invited to join SIEF and come to Zagreb, while for the first time representatives of the board of SIEF were invited to the AFS board to sound out what common ground could be found for the future.
